Hy-Vee, Farmers Market Salads Recalled Over Listeria Fears

River Ranch Fresh Foods has issued a voluntary recall of more than 2100 cases of bagged salad greens following a positive Listeria test performed by the Ohio Department of Agriculture.  These salads are sold under the Farmers Market and Hy-Vee brands.  Recalled are:

  • Farmers Market 8 oz Shredded Iceberg 30034-30195 BEST BY 14OCT2011 A106A and A106B
  • Farmers Market 7 oz Parisian Blend 30034-30259 BEST BY 14OCT2011 A106A and A106B
  • Farmers Market 9 oz Leafy Romaine 30034-30364 BEST BY 14OCT2011 A106A and A106B
  • Farmers Market 12 oz Romaine Garden 30034-30220 BEST BY 14OCT2011 A106A and A106B
  • Hy-Vee 8 oz Shredded Iceberg 75450-12053 BEST BY 14OCT2011 A106A and A106B
  • Hy-Vee 12 oz American Blend 75450-12047 BEST BY 14OCT2011 A106A and A106B
  • Hy-Vee 12 oz Garden Supreme 75450-12046 BEST BY 14OCT2011 A106A and A106B
  • Hy-Vee 12 oz Romaine Garden 75450-12058 BEST BY 14OCT2011 A106A and A106B 
All these salads were bagged on September 27, 2011 and have "best buy" codes of October 14, 2011.  According to River Ranch Fresh Foods' press release about the recall these salads were sold in supermarkets in:
  • Iowa
  • Ohio
  • Pennsylvania
River Ranch says that no illnesses have been reported.  If you have these salads on hand you're urged not to eat or serve them but to return them to your place of purchase for a refund.  You can also contact the company directly at 1-800-762-7708.
